Units from the Royal Armed Forces and the American forces participated yesterday, Friday, at the mouth of the Draa River (north of Tan-Tan), in aerial and ground military maneuvers that concluded the Moroccan-American joint exercises “African Lion 2025.”

The “African Lion 2025” exercise comes in implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, the Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.

During this maneuver, which took place in the presence of General Mohamed Braha, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, and General Michael Langley, Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), the participating military units simulated an operation to counter a virtual enemy using ground units supported by aerial units with F-16 aircraft from the Royal Moroccan Air Force.

Special forces units also destroyed an enemy radar station designated for detecting drones, along with an American “HIMARS” battery striking deep into the presumed enemy.

Subsequently, artillery units of the M109 A5 type from the Royal Armed Forces conducted shelling aimed at the initial destruction of the enemy positioned on the front line, enabling engineering units to dismantle a minefield and open pathways as part of their attacking and counter-attacking missions, using “Abrams” armored vehicles accompanied by infantry units onboard heavy armored and light troop carriers to eliminate the remnants of the supposed enemy.
