Data from the Spanish Statistical Office has revealed an increase in the unemployment rate during the first quarter of 2025. The unemployment rate rose to 11.36%, compared to 10.61% in the fourth quarter of the previous year. It was anticipated that the rate would rise to 10.7%.

The unemployment rate stood at 12.29% during the first quarter of 2024. The number of employed individuals decreased by 92,500 compared to the previous quarter, bringing the total to 21.76 million people. Meanwhile, the number of unemployed increased by 193,700, resulting in a total of 2.79 million individuals during the first quarter.
