Tunis: Former Judge Ahmed Sawab Arrested and Investigated by Anti-Terrorism Judicial Pole

This morning, security authorities arrested former judge and human rights activist Ahmed Sawab, taking him to the anti-terrorism judicial pole as part of investigations whose official details have not yet been disclosed.

According to a post by his son, Saba Al-Sabawi, on his official Facebook page, security units searched his father’s home before he was taken to the anti-terrorism unit for questioning.

So far, neither the judicial authorities nor the Ministry of the Interior has issued an official statement clarifying the reasons for his arrest or the charges against him.

It is worth noting that Ahmed Sawab recently sparked widespread controversy with provocative media statements, particularly during the trial concerning the “conspiracy against state security,” which was held last Friday.
