A strategic partnership has been announced between the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health and the French public group MipihSIB, aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of Morocco’s healthcare system. This agreement was signed during the Africa Tech Expo Morocco, held in Marrakech yesterday, Monday.
According to a joint statement from the two organizations, this collaboration aligns with the implementation of the national strategy to modernize healthcare infrastructure, with the goal of using digital transformation as a lever for improving performance, integration, and technological sovereignty for Moroccan citizens. This initiative will particularly emphasize managing health data, enhancing patient treatment pathways, and developing medical infrastructures.
Two model hospitals have been selected to launch this initial phase of digitization: Mohammed VI International University Hospital in Bouskoura and Mohammed VI International University Hospital in Rabat. The foundation aims to achieve a 30% increase in operational efficiency within these institutions by 2027 through the adoption of digital technology.
This project will reduce waiting times and improve the patient experience within hospitals, and it includes an ambitious operational program for training healthcare professionals and generalizing internationally tested solutions, all while adhering to quality, safety, and performance standards.
In this regard, Mustafa Lasek, General Director of MipihSIB, stated that “this partnership is based on a collaborative model that puts Moroccan actors at the heart of the digital transformation dynamic,” noting that the French group brings over fifty years of expertise in digitizing the French healthcare system to the Moroccan foundation.
Both parties aim for this cooperation to enable Morocco to play a leading role in digital health across the African continent by presenting a successful model that can be replicated in other countries participating in the exhibition, relying on a sovereign digital infrastructure that protects the privacy of Moroccan patients and ensures the security of their sensitive data, particularly in light of increasing international cyber threats.
This digital alliance is focused on six main pillars: quality of care, access to treatment, training, prevention, artificial intelligence, and health-related information technology, reflecting the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health’s commitment to making Morocco a reference platform for innovation and technology in the healthcare field.
