Paris recalls its ambassador to Algeria and expels 12 diplomats.
Today, France announced the expulsion of 12 employees working at its embassy and consulate in Algeria, and recalled its ambassador to Algeria for consultations.
The French decision came in response to a similar move by Algeria, which decided to expel 12 French diplomats after protesting the detention of an Algerian consular employee accused by Paris of being involved in the kidnapping of an Algerian opposition figure on its territory.
