A joint statement adopted following discussions in Chisinau between Moldova’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, and Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, highlighted Moldova’s appreciation for Morocco’s renewed efforts toward the political, economic, and social development of the kingdom. The statement emphasized the importance of Morocco’s new development model and the strengthening of advanced regionalization.

Moldova also lauded the Atlantic initiatives launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the benefit of the African continent, particularly the initiative for “the Atlantic African countries” and “the royal international initiative to enhance access for Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean,” as well as the “Africa Atlantic Gas Pipeline Project” between Nigeria and Morocco.

The joint statement indicated that these initiatives aim to establish the African Atlantic space as a favorable geostrategic framework for African development while promoting stability and prosperity for the continent.

Both parties affirmed their positive and constructive roles in maintaining stability, security, and peace in their respective regions, expressing their commitment to the peaceful resolution of conflicts and respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of nations.

In this context, the Republic of Moldova also commended Morocco’s role as a regional hub for stability and a driver for growth and development in Africa.
