El Idrisi: Morocco has become a leader in digital transformation in Africa and “GITEX Africa” enhances confidence in the Kingdom

The Director General of the National Digital Agency, Mohamed El Idrisi Meliani, stated that Morocco has become an attractive space for digital opportunities and a leader in advancing South-South issues in technology towards greater coordination and integration, ensuring the upliftment of the African continent and its international prominence.

These remarks were made by El Idrisi Meliani during his speech at the opening session of the “GITEX Africa” exhibition, which is one of the largest technology exhibitions in the world and the largest of its kind in Africa, held today in Marrakech.

He pointed out that this year, the exhibition has the participation of 130 official international delegations, 350 investors seeking new investment opportunities in the African market, 1,500 exhibitors, and 800 startups.

The Director General emphasized that the exhibition, organized under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, “has become one of the most prominent digital and technological gatherings internationally and in Africa.”

He stressed that “GITEX Africa” is no longer “just an occasion to showcase innovations but has become a strategic space for enhancing digital integration among African countries and building bridges of cooperation with international partners, accelerating the pace of sustainable digital transformation. This undoubtedly embodies our firm ambition and strong commitment to achieving comprehensive digital transition and establishing a digital culture that prioritizes the advancement of administration, the business ecosystem, and society, while building a developed and competitive digital economy.”

El Idrisi noted that “Morocco’s hosting of the third edition of the ‘GITEX Africa’ exhibition is not only a testament to the increasing confidence in our country and its organizational and logistical capabilities but also a recognition of its continuous efforts in supporting innovation and encouraging investment in technology and qualifying national digital competencies.”

The Director General of the National Digital Agency considered that “the significant attendance and valuable participation in the works of this distinguished continental event highlight the interest in issues related to digital transformation as a fundamental lever for supporting the digital policy in our country and on the African continent, encouraging local production of technology solutions, and enhancing innovation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital government, and financial technology, with the aim of creating an integrated digital environment capable of keeping pace with global transformations and addressing shared secondary challenges.”

He stated that the third edition of “GITEX Africa” highlights strategic topics that reflect the dynamics of digital transformation in Africa and its future directions, such as artificial intelligence and its applications in various sectors such as health, education, industry, cybersecurity, smart services, financial technology, and digital health.
