Air Arabia Maroc Launches New Direct Flight Route Between Rabat and Essaouira
Air Arabia Maroc officially launched a new direct flight route between Rabat and Essaouira yesterday, Friday, from Rabat-Salé Airport, as part of efforts to enhance air connectivity within the kingdom.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by His Majesty the King’s advisor and the founding president of the Essaouira-Mogador Association, André Azoulay, State Secretary in charge of Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Lahcen Saadi, the French ambassador to Morocco, Christophe Le Cortier, the CEO of Air Arabia Group, Adel Ali, and the General Director of Air Arabia Maroc, Leila Mechbal, along with a number of distinguished guests.
The new route, celebrated with a water salute on the runway and secured by an Airbus A230, will operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. Its aim is to facilitate travel between the two cities and expand connectivity options for passengers.
In a statement to the press, Azoulay described the launch of this route as “a long-awaited historical moment,” expressing his immense happiness at realizing a dream that has been fifteen years in the making: enhancing air connectivity for the city of the winds.
He added, “The air connection with Essaouira Airport has now become a reality. This route will unite our lands, our hearts, and our aspirations,” emphasizing that this long-awaited connection represents a form of spatial justice and ushers in a new era for the region.
Mechbal expressed her happiness at this inauguration, explaining that the route will allow travelers to discover or rediscover Essaouira, the charming city with its unique heritage and stunning views. She added that this new route presents a fantastic opportunity for travel enthusiasts, with 174 seats available on each flight and fares not exceeding 350 dirhams.
For his part, Ali expressed pride in launching this new route, reaffirming Air Arabia’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Morocco and offering new destinations in the future.
This new route opens wide horizons for travelers, whether business or leisure, while enhancing economic and cultural ties between Rabat and Essaouira.
Essaouira is considered one of Morocco’s premier tourist destinations, thanks to its rich cultural heritage, unique atmosphere, and famous music festivals that attract visitors from both inside and outside the kingdom.
