The GITEX Africa event has recorded significant growth, with the Director General of the Digital Development Agency, Amin Mazouaghi, confirming a rise in the number of participants and exhibitors by over 60% within just three editions. This reflects the increasing appeal of the event and solidifies its status as a continental technological platform.
During the opening of the fourth edition in Marrakech, Mazouaghi highlighted that the number of startups and investors has also seen a substantial increase, further reinforcing Morocco’s position as a regional hub for innovation and a bridge between Africa and the rest of the world.
The fourth edition of the exhibition kicked off with approximately 50,000 participants and more than 1,450 exhibitors representing 130 countries, making it the largest event of its kind on the African continent in the digital and technological sector.
The inauguration was attended by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, alongside government members, diplomats, investors, and experts, who affirmed that Morocco is ready to receive investments in the digital sector, thanks to its institutional stability and clear vision for developing this field.
This year’s edition is held under the theme “Stimulating the Digital Economy for Africa in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” with expanded exhibition spaces and the launch of new sectors covering areas such as smart infrastructure, fintech, future mobility, and sports technology.
The exhibition also places special emphasis on cybersecurity, through specialized programs aimed at enhancing the protection of digital systems amidst the increasing challenges posed by rapid technological transformations.
This event establishes its position as a strategic platform for fostering digital cooperation among various stakeholders and supporting the digital transformation journey in Africa, contributing to the development of a digital economy capable of facing future challenges.
