As the GITEX Africa event approaches in Marrakech from April 7 to 9, 2026, the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform emerges as a key pillar in supporting Morocco’s innovation ecosystem. Since the launch of this continental event, the ministry has facilitated the empowerment of approximately 800 Moroccan startups, including 300 this year through the “Morocco 300” initiative, reflecting a tangible shift in the state’s strategies towards supporting digital entrepreneurship.
This support is no longer merely symbolic or formal; it is based on practical mechanisms that enable startups to expand internationally. In preparation for GITEX, the ministry will hold a special meeting on April 6, bringing together beneficiaries of “Morocco 300” with investors and institutional partners, aiming to unify efforts and enhance coordination within the innovation ecosystem.
The “Morocco 300” initiative marks an advanced stage following the success of its predecessors, “Morocco 100” and “Morocco 200,” with a 50% increase in the number of beneficiary companies, highlighting Morocco’s commitment to broadening its innovation base and strengthening its technological presence globally. The ministry adopts a comprehensive approach covering 95% of participation costs in exhibitions, alongside training workshops, digital seminars, direct opportunities to meet investors, and building strategic partnerships.
The results are evident: Moroccan startups have succeeded in attracting significant investments and expanding their operations internationally. Notably, a digital platform specialized in real estate raised $15 million in Series A funding at the African level, kicking off its fundraising journey after participating in GITEX Africa 2024 under the “Morocco 200” initiative.
The meeting on April 6 will serve as a strategic milestone to align the vision among different stakeholders and transform startups from individual initiatives into a collective force representing Morocco on the international stage. The ministry will showcase the successes achieved through an interactive video documenting the initiative’s journey since its inception.
It is expected that Minister Amel El Falah will deliver a speech affirming that startups have become a crucial pillar for achieving digital sovereignty and enhancing economic competitiveness, emphasizing the state’s transition from a supportive role to actual empowerment.
With the launch of GITEX Africa 2026, Morocco today stands out as an influential player in global digital transformation, backed by a new generation of ambitious startups that represent Moroccan innovation on both the African and international fronts.
