Morocco and the European Union announced today the launch of a joint digital dialogue aimed at enhancing strategic cooperation in technology and artificial intelligence through the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.
This dialogue is part of a shared vision to strengthen the digital capacities of both parties, develop data-driven and AI-based solutions that serve the economy and society, with a focus on secure digital infrastructure, supporting startups, and enhancing interoperability between Moroccan and European systems.
The launch was attended by the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal Filali Sagharouchni, alongside the Vice President of the European Commission, Jutta Urpilainen, responsible for technology sovereignty, security, and democracy.
The cooperation program includes the exchange of best practices, support for supercomputing projects, and the strengthening of research partnerships in the field of artificial intelligence, in addition to developing digital governance mechanisms and improving public services.
As a practical step to enhance this cooperation, four European supercomputing centers signed a letter of intent with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, which hosts the most powerful supercomputer in Africa, as part of Morocco’s vision to develop “AI made in Morocco.”
This digital dialogue also coincides with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the partnership agreement between Morocco and the EU, reflecting both parties’ desire to deepen cooperation in light of the ongoing digital transformations at the regional and international levels.
