A A

On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the Moroccan Ministry of Justice witnessed official discussions between Moroccan Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi and his Dutch counterpart, Minister of Justice and Security David van Wil, during the latter’s working visit to the Kingdom, accompanied by a high-level delegation.

This meeting was aimed at activating the joint declaration signed between Morocco and the Netherlands on December 5, 2025, in The Hague, which seeks to elevate bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership based on mutual trust and the enhancement of cooperation in priority areas.

During the talks, both sides reviewed the progress made in implementing judicial cooperation areas, including modernizing the justice system, exchanging experiences and best practices in judicial governance, digitizing procedures, and improving services provided to litigants. The focus was also on strengthening security cooperation, particularly in combating terrorism and transnational organized crime, with the establishment of joint institutional mechanisms, including a specialized committee to combat terrorism.

The two sides also discussed the importance of ongoing coordination in migration issues and promoting training programs and experience exchange within the framework of government-to-government cooperation, aiming to develop capacities and enhance the effectiveness of the legal and judicial system.

In a statement, Moroccan Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi said, “This visit reflects the shared desire to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of justice and judicial security. The discussions provided an opportunity to strengthen coordination and exchange expertise in addressing common challenges, especially in combating organized crime and terrorism.”

For his part, Dutch Minister David van Wil affirmed, “This visit reflects our countries’ commitment to a robust strategic partnership based on close cooperation in justice and security fields. We explored ways to develop judicial cooperation and enhance coordination to address cross-border challenges in a manner that serves our mutual interests.”

Both parties reiterated their commitment to continue implementing the joint declaration and to explore new horizons for cooperation, reinforcing the friendship and partnership between Morocco and the Netherlands and supporting legal and judicial security at both regional and international levels.
