The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the distribution of investments in the Rabat–Salé–Kénitra region is based on a fair spatial approach and equal opportunities, considering the territorial and demographic specifics of each province and district. This ensures developmental balance and enhances the attractiveness of various areas.
This clarification came in response to Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit’s written answer to a question at the House of Councillors regarding the disparities in investment distribution within the region. He highlighted that the allocation of these investments relies on objective criteria grounded in development indicators for each area, including demographic data, land area, geographic specifics, and indicators measuring spatial disparities.
The government official explained that the regional council employs a balanced development approach based on participatory methodology, aimed at ensuring fair and equitable investment distribution among the various provinces and districts in the region. This is achieved by setting priorities that meet the needs of each area and enhances development opportunities, noting that this direction is accompanied by the implementation of projects with a regional dimension aimed at supporting development dynamics and strengthening integration and coordination among the different components of the region.
Regarding the reduction of spatial and social disparities, the ministry stated that the rural disparity reduction program is one of the most prominent mechanisms employed to improve human development indicators, especially in areas facing difficulties, through funding projects that have a direct impact on the population.
This program aims to alleviate the isolation of rural areas by constructing and upgrading roads and paths, improving access to essential services, especially potable water, electricity, healthcare, and education, alongside preparing suitable conditions to enhance economic potential in rural and mountainous areas.
Concerning road infrastructure, the Ministry of Interior indicated that the preparation and implementation of partnership agreements are carried out based on a methodology that takes into account the nature and importance of road networks, the condition of the roads and infrastructure, while ensuring a geographic balance in the distribution of investments among the various provinces of the region.
These projects also focus on upgrading and strengthening road connections between cities, centers, and industrial areas, aiming to enhance investment attractiveness, with particular attention given to rural roads, especially in mountainous areas, based on accurate data including the number of benefiting residents, the nature of isolation, and the difficulty of accessing essential services, in line with the principle of spatial justice.
