Global Partnerships with Africa to Accelerate the Development of Sovereign AI Infrastructure and the Digital Economy
The digital economies in Africa are undergoing a new phase of transformation, with the continent moving from strategizing to implementing tangible projects on the ground. This shift is driven by intensified efforts from governments and industry players to develop advanced digital infrastructure and enhance technological sovereignty and intra-African trade.
At the heart of this transformation is the GITEX Africa Morocco 2026 event, which will serve as a continental and international platform, bringing together over 1,450 exhibiting companies and startups, alongside participants from more than 130 countries, from April 7 to 9, 2026. This event is under the patronage of King Mohammed VI and is supervised by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, with the Digital Development Agency hosting and KAOUN International organizing.
The wide international participation reflects a growing consensus on the priorities of digital transformation in the continent, with the United Arab Emirates emerging as a key partner through a high-level delegation that includes major companies such as Presight, e&, and Space42, as well as global firms like Dell Technologies, Oracle, Mastercard, Airbus, Vodacom, and Nokia, all seeking to expand their cooperation with African governments and institutions.
In this context, Presight will showcase its AI-based solutions across various fields, including public services, smart cities, energy, and education, focusing on integrating intelligence within national systems while maintaining digital sovereignty.
Digital transformation is not limited to smart applications; it also relies on building strong infrastructure, particularly in energy, communication, and data centers. Schneider Electric stands out as a global player supporting this trend with advanced solutions in electrification, automation, and digitization, engaging in the development of resilient power systems and sustainable digital infrastructure across the continent.
Experts believe that Morocco is enhancing its position as a promising regional hub for startups in AI and advanced technology, thanks to its skilled workforce and supportive ecosystem for investment and innovation.
The multi-sectoral international participation in GITEX Africa Morocco 2026 reflects a broad alliance uniting technology leaders and investors, with over 400 investors from more than 35 countries participating, indicating a clear increase in global interest in the opportunities presented by Africa’s digital economy.
Amid this momentum, Africa is moving toward establishing a digital model based on international partnerships, infrastructure integration, and accelerating innovation, thereby reinforcing its position as a key player in the global digital economy.
