Imports Decline and Limited Exports Increase: Varied Developments in Morocco’s Trade in 2025
The numbers reflecting Morocco’s foreign trade showed varied developments during the fourth quarter of 2025, with average import values declining while exports saw a limited increase.
According to the High Commission for Planning, the index of average import values fell by 4.6 percent, attributed to the decline in several categories, notably industrial equipment, energy and lubricating oils, semi-finished products, along with food products and consumer goods, as well as raw materials of animal and plant origin.
Conversely, some categories recorded an increase, particularly raw materials of mineral origin and agricultural equipment, which somewhat mitigated the severity of this decline.
Regarding exports, the data indicated that the increase in the index by 1.4 percent was mainly due to the improvement in average values of food products, industrial equipment, mineral raw materials, in addition to consumer goods.
However, this increase was impacted by declines in other categories, including energy and lubricating oils, raw animal and plant materials, semi-finished products, and agricultural equipment, which limited the overall index’s growth rate.
On an annual basis, the indicators showed a 4.9 percent decrease in average import values in 2025 compared to 2024, while exports experienced a slight increase of 0.2 percent.
