In the heart of the Belgian capital, Brussels, Morocco captured attention through an innovative initiative called the “Traditional Crafts Village” during the tenth edition of the SMAP Immo Bruxelles exhibition. This unprecedented experience combines real estate investment with the promotion of cultural heritage.

For the first time in the exhibition’s history, a dedicated space for traditional crafts spanning nearly 300 square meters was established, featuring 16 artisans representing various Moroccan crafts. This step reflects the richness and diversity of Moroccan creativity and aims to showcase traditional products to a wide audience of Moroccans living abroad and European visitors.

This initiative, overseen by the State Secretariat for Traditional Industry and Social and Solidarity Economy in partnership with the University of the Traditional Crafts Chambers, arises from a cooperation agreement signed on February 25. It aims to enhance the prominence of this sector and boost its international visibility as a pillar of national identity.

Inside this carefully designed village, the authenticity of Moroccan crafts is displayed through a diverse array of products, including carpets, pottery, zellige, metalwork, artistic woodworking, embroidery, leather goods, as well as traditional clothes, jewelry, and local products, showcasing the richness of Moroccan heritage.

The initiative also transcends economic aspects by fostering cultural and human dimensions, serving as a bridge connecting Moroccans around the world with their roots, and providing younger generations the opportunity to discover their heritage in a lively and tangible way, thereby strengthening their sense of belonging and identity.

The opening of this village featured Moroccan folkloric performances that infused the space with a celebratory atmosphere, transforming it into an interactive and vibrant experience that attracted visitors and highlighted the richness of Moroccan cultural diversity.

In this context, Sidati Chkaf, President of the University of the Traditional Crafts Chambers, affirmed that this participation aims to enhance the appeal of Moroccan crafts and bridge communication between artisans and the Moroccan community as well as the European audience. Meanwhile, Mouha Riche, a representative from the State Secretariat, emphasized that the initiative seeks to highlight the human value of Moroccan heritage and support its marketing in international markets.

Balancing cultural significance with investment dynamics, the “Traditional Crafts Village” stands out as a living showcase reflecting the depth of Moroccan identity, confirming that this heritage can transcend borders, carrying with it a national memory and a rich civilization whose influence extends into the international arena.
