The Moroccan national team defeated Paraguay 2-1 in a friendly match held in Lens as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
The first half showcased a balanced performance, with the Moroccan team attempting to assert their dominance and create scoring opportunities. However, a lack of offensive efficiency prevented them from finding the back of the net, resulting in a goalless first half.
At the start of the second half, Bilal El Khannouss opened the scoring in the 48th minute with an accurate pass from Achraf Hakimi, giving the national team the lead. The second goal soon followed, as Naïl El Aynaoui doubled the advantage in the 53rd minute, capitalizing on the Moroccan team’s pressure and desire to secure an early victory.
To provide opportunities for more players, head coach Walid Regragui made several substitutions in the second half, introducing new faces to inject fresh energy into the lineup.
In the closing minutes, Paraguay sought to make a comeback, having a goal disallowed for offside before finally reducing the deficit with a legitimate goal in the 87th minute, although this did not affect the final result.
This match is part of Morocco’s preparation program as they continue to gear up for the upcoming World Cup with high ambitions.
