Significant Drop in the “Masi” Index at the Start of the Week on the Casablanca Stock Exchange
The Casablanca Stock Exchange recorded a noticeable decline in its main indices at the start of trading on Monday, impacted by a wave of decreases affecting several listed securities.
The main index, “Masi,” fell by 3.68% to settle at 17,472.71 points, continuing its downward trend after ending last Friday’s session with a loss of 1.25%.
The “MASI.20” index, which reflects the performance of 20 companies listed on the market, experienced an even stronger decline of 4.6%, hitting 1,316.23 points, indicating clear pressure on the largest market capitalizations.
Similarly, the “MASI.ESG” index, which includes companies with top rankings in sustainability standards, dropped by 2.41% to 1,201.57 points.
For small and medium enterprises, the “MASI Mid and Small Cap” index fell by 3.3% to 1,808.84 points, signaling that the downward trend has extended to various market segments.
This collective performance reflects a negative start to the week for the Casablanca Stock Exchange, amidst ongoing pressures that had closed out the previous week’s trading activities.
