Industrial transactions in Salé reach 11.5 billion dirhams, providing 13% of jobs in the region

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, confirmed that the city of Salé has established itself as a significant industrial hub in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, benefiting from its strategic location along the route linking Tangier and Casablanca, alongside a diverse transport network and a capable training system that supplies the market with qualified talent.

In response to a parliamentary inquiry from Idriss Snanissi, head of the National Rally of Independents group in the House of Representatives, regarding support for small and medium-sized industrial projects in Salé, Mezzour highlighted that industrial transactions in the city reached approximately 11.5 billion dirhams in 2024, marking a 9% increase compared to 2023. This figure represents 11.4% of the total industrial transactions in the region.

The minister further noted that the added value of the industrial sector in Salé was about 3.1 billion dirhams during the same year, which corresponds to 10.7% of the regional added value.

Regarding investment, the government official indicated that the total value of industrial investments amounted to 281 million dirhams, with the number of jobs reaching 20,208, accounting for 13% of the total job opportunities in the region.

In terms of enhancing the city’s industrial attractiveness, Mezzour highlighted the implementation of several projects, including the establishment of an industrial acceleration zone and a free zone in Bouknadel covering an area of 32 hectares, as well as creating an industrial area in the municipality of Aamer in partnership with the region at an estimated total cost of 447 million dirhams over an initial area of nearly 60 hectares.

Additionally, 62 industrial units benefited from a support program for small and medium enterprises by contributing to a portion of rental costs, alongside the rehabilitation of the Tabriket industrial area with a financial envelope of 11 million dirhams.

The minister also noted the measures taken to encourage industrial investment, including a regional support fund and a working group focused on industrial sovereignty that monitored 23 projects with a total investment estimated at around 2.25 billion dirhams, expected to create 12,119 job positions.

In support of businesses, Mezzour explained that an investment program offers a grant of up to 20% of the project value, capped at 10 million dirhams. This is in addition to launching the Primo-exportateurs program to support companies and cooperatives with export potential, as well as programs to support research and technological innovation.

He also pointed to the development of the training system through the establishment of the School of Arts and Crafts in Rabat (EAMR) at Technopolis Salé, aimed at preparing talents capable of meeting the demands of modern industry, especially in engineering, manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 technologies.

The minister concluded by reaffirming the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s commitment to continue supporting industrial development in Salé, thereby enhancing the business climate and contributing to job creation and supporting the local economy.
