Gerardo Martino: The Moroccan National Team is the African Champion and a Real Test Before the 2026 World Cup
Argentine Gerardo Martino, former coach of the Paraguay national team, has confirmed that the Moroccan national team, as the African Cup champions, represents one of the most significant friendly tests for his team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Martino stated in remarks to Paraguayan media that the Moroccan team possesses high competitive strength and includes top-level players, making it a tough opponent and a genuine benchmark for assessing readiness.
He noted that he has not followed the last appearance of the “Atlas Lions,” but emphasized that the African value of the Moroccan team is enough to anticipate a strong encounter on the field.
The friendly match between the two teams is scheduled to take place on the evening of Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Polite Delelis Stadium, starting at 7 PM Moroccan time.
