Exclusive to Express TV | Preliminary agreement with Portuguese João Sacramento to assist Wahbi… Ongoing negotiations to convince Ben Mahmoud

In a continuing follow-up on the national team developments, Express TV has learned that the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has reached a preliminary agreement with Portuguese coach João Sacramento to take on the role of assistant coach within the new technical staff that will lead the national team during the upcoming phase.

This agreement comes in the context of appointing Mohamed Wahbi as the head coach, with Sacramento expected to provide a significant boost to the technical staff due to his European experience and tenure at the highest levels.

Sacramento is considered one of the promising young Portuguese coaches who have accumulated significant professional experience, having worked with the technical staff of Paris Saint-Germain, Roma, and Tottenham Hotspur, where he served as an assistant to the renowned coach José Mourinho, giving him a valuable tactical background and experience in managing major matches.

In parallel, negotiations are still ongoing with Rachid Ben Mahmoud to convince him to join Mohamed Wahbi’s technical staff, despite his previous desire to embark on a new experience. The federation is clearly keen on retaining Ben Mahmoud due to his strong relationship with the players and his position within the group, as well as his in-depth knowledge of the team and its dynamics.

This initiative reflects the federation’s commitment to blending experienced foreign expertise with national competence that is closely connected to the players, aiming to ensure a smooth transition in technical leadership and maintain stability within the squad.

Wahbi and his staff are expected to start preparations for the March camp, which will serve as the first real test for the new technical team, laying the groundwork for a new phase for the national team.
