Younes Skouri calls from Meknes for the alignment of university training with labor market needs

Younes Skouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills, emphasized on Monday in Meknes that enhancing the synergy between university education and the labor market is a crucial lever for empowering youth to seize employment opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures presented by current economic transformations.

In a statement to the press on the sidelines of a discussion forum organized by the National School of Trade and Management in Meknes, part of Moulay Ismail University, under the theme “The University Student: What Leadership for What Employment and Entrepreneurship Opportunities?”, the minister pointed out that aligning training pathways with the actual needs of the job market has become a pressing necessity, especially given the emergence of new investments and promising sectors.

Skouri noted that the ongoing economic transformations open wide horizons for Moroccan youth, provided they develop their skills and enhance their educational journey while building career paths that meet employers’ demands. He emphasized the complementary role of universities in delivering foundational knowledge alongside students’ responsibility in developing their personal skills and adaptability.

He added that this meeting, organized within the framework of the “ENCG UMI – Enterprises” forum, aims to create a space for direct interaction between students, faculty, and economic actors, contributing to guiding youth toward professional integration opportunities and supporting their entrepreneurial projects.

Meanwhile, acting director of the National School of Trade and Management, Mohamed Zouhari, highlighted that this event coinciding with the start of the spring semester for the 2025-2026 academic year is an opportunity to discuss leadership challenges among university youth and enhance their employability. He pointed out that the forum addressed various topics, including leadership skills development, improving graduate integration into the job market, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship, and facilitating support mechanisms for training and financing.

For his part, the president of Moulay Ismail University affirmed that this event addresses a strategic topic crucial for the future of youth and national socio-economic development, highlighting the university’s pivotal role in preparing qualified talents capable of innovation, assuming responsibility, and effectively contributing to development.

In conjunction with this forum, the “ENCG UMI – Enterprises” event was organized, involving several companies and partner institutions, providing a platform for guidance and exchange that enabled students and graduates to learn about internship and employment opportunities, as well as various programs supporting entrepreneurship and professional integration.
