Morocco is actively participating in the 57th Cairo International Book Fair, where the Moroccan pavilion showcases modern corridors that display the latest national intellectual and literary productions across various fields, including literature, law, religious interpretations, human sciences, and the arts. This reflects the vibrancy of the Moroccan cultural scene and its openness to Arab readers.
Several Moroccan publishers confirmed a notable demand for various publications, indicating that the most sought-after titles include religious jurisprudence, legal references, literary works, and academic studies. They emphasized that this interaction encourages the enhancement of cultural exchange and the expansion of cooperation networks with Arab publishers.
In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, Youssef Kermagh, director of Taoufiq Publishing House, noted that the Moroccan pavilion has made a significant and distinctive presence, reflecting the strength of Moroccan cultural production and giving it a significant boost to participate in Arab and international literary events. He pointed out that the participation is part of a program for a coalition of Moroccan publishers in Arab fairs, supported by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication.
Similarly, Moroccan publisher Yassine Lghoumi emphasized that the space provided by the ministry represents an ideal platform to showcase Moroccan publications and engage with other Arab cultures. He confirmed that the Kingdom’s participation was exceptional, reflecting the spirit of cultural exchange and enhancing the presence of Moroccan literature in the Arab scene.
Lghoumi also highlighted the significant interest of Egyptian readers in Moroccan outputs, which included novels, stories, as well as academic books, legal studies, and scientific research, reflecting a broad interest in Moroccan cultural and scientific production.
The 57th edition witnessed the participation of ten Moroccan publishers showcasing a diverse bibliographic collection. Additionally, writers, thinkers, and researchers from various generations and backgrounds engaged in discussions about contemporary issues such as transformations in Arab narration, the impact of artificial intelligence on creativity, identity questions, and the future of printed books in the era of digital transformation. Professional meetings for publishers were also held, focusing on translation, publishing rights, and cross-border distribution.
