The President of the Moroccan House of Representatives, Mr. Rashid Talbi Alami, received his Pakistani counterpart, Mr. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, along with his parliamentary delegation, on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the council’s headquarters in Rabat. This meeting is part of a working visit to the Kingdom.

During the meeting, Mr. Talbi Alami warmly welcomed his Pakistani counterpart, emphasizing that the visit represents an opportunity to develop the dynamics of parliamentary relations between Morocco and Pakistan at both bilateral and multilateral levels. He presented the delegation with an overview of the major projects being implemented in the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, highlighting the pioneering initiatives launched at the African level, notably the Atlantic royal initiative.

Mr. Talbi Alami also reviewed the latest developments concerning the Moroccan Sahara issue, emphasizing the recent United Nations Security Council resolution No. 2797, which affirmed the legitimacy and realism of the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty. He called for respect for the sovereignty of countries and their territorial integrity, and for non-interference in their internal affairs.

For his part, the President of the National Assembly of Pakistan expressed his appreciation for the visit, pointing out the strength of the historical ties between the two countries and his desire to enhance economic, trade, and tourism exchanges with Morocco. He emphasized the importance of exchanging parliamentary expertise and intensifying coordination in international forums, formally inviting Mr. Talbi Alami to visit Pakistan to deepen cooperation between the two legislative bodies.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Moroccan-Pakistani Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mr. Idriss Shabshali, the Pakistani Ambassador in Rabat, Mr. Adil Gilani, as well as members of the Pakistani parliamentary delegation, which includes parliamentary leaders and officials from various committees, including the Chairman of the Permanent Committee on Finance and Revenue, Mr. Syed Naveed Qamer, the Secretary of the Committee for Combating Poverty and Social Protection, Mr. Muhammad Azhar Khan Leghari, and several deputies and heads of friendship groups between the two countries.

This meeting reflects Morocco and Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening their parliamentary partnership and expanding avenues for economic and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
