The Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Agency for Social Support on Wednesday in Rabat, aiming to strengthen the royal initiative for the expansion of social protection and to improve the quality of support provided to vulnerable groups.

The Prime Minister opened the meeting by emphasizing that the direct social support system is a cornerstone of the state’s strategies for social justice, pointing out that this transformation allows a shift from temporary approaches to a precise institutional system that ensures the equitable and effective allocation of resources according to the needs of beneficiaries.

During the session, the agency’s Director General presented the results for 2025, highlighting key achievements, including an increase in the support amount and the activation of special programs for orphans and elderly residents in social care institutions. Steps to expand the agency’s geographical representation were also discussed, with a new office opened in the El Jadida region to enhance accessibility for beneficiaries and facilitate their economic and social integration.

The council also approved a new mechanism to monitor performance indicators aimed at measuring the program’s impact on reducing poverty and vulnerability, establishing a more effective approach to the financial and social management of cash transfers, with a focus on human development and the economic sustainability of beneficiaries.

The council’s work included signing collaboration agreements with ministries, public institutions, and international entities, primarily aimed at supporting children’s education, promoting employment, and reinforcing principles of good governance in social support management.

Approximately 3.9 million families benefit from the direct social support program, equating to more than 12.5 million citizens, including 5.5 million children up to the age of twenty-one, along with 1.7 million seniors over sixty. The monthly aid ranges between 500 and 1,350 dirhams, with additional support for the most vulnerable groups.

Since its launch at the end of 2023, the program has become a key tool for enhancing social justice and expanding the social protection umbrella in Morocco, in line with a vision that meets family needs and improves the quality of life for the most disadvantaged groups.
