The Olympic flag was handed over to France on Sunday by the organizers of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics and the International Olympic Committee. This marks the official transition of hosting duties for the 2030 Winter Olympics to the French Alps.
The handover took place at the Verona Arena during the closing ceremony, where the presidents of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regions received the flag from the President of the International Olympic Committee, Kirsty Coventry, followed by the playing of the French national anthem, officially signaling France’s hosting transition.
