The High Commission for Planning reveals the performance of the labor market for 2025

The national economy has achieved growth in job opportunities, according to the High Commission for Planning, which disclosed in its press release regarding the labor market situation for 2025 the creation of 193,000 jobs between 2024 and 2025.

The Commission clarified that this performance resulted from the creation of 203,000 jobs in urban areas, despite the loss of 10,000 jobs in rural areas. It added that the distribution of job opportunities by type shows an increase in paid employment by 249,000 jobs, while unpaid employment declined by 55,000 jobs.

The Commission stated that the national activity rate remained stable at 43.5%, but it recorded a decrease of 0.4 points in rural areas, reaching 46.1%, whereas there was a slight increase of 0.2 points in urban areas, reaching 42.2%. In terms of gender, the rate remained nearly unchanged for men (68.6% in 2024 compared to 68.5% in 2025) and for women (19.1% compared to 19%).

As for the employment rate, it increased nationally from 37.7% to 37.8%, with a decrease of 0.3 points in rural areas to reach 43%, and an increase of 0.4 points in urban areas to reach 35.3%. According to the Commission, the employment rate for men rose from 60.7% to 61.1%, while it decreased for women from 15.3% to 15.1%.
