Russia Begins Providing Aid to Cuba and Affirms Support Amid U.S. Pressures

Sergey Ryabkov, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, announced that Russia has started delivering material aid to Cuba, reiterating Moscow’s solidarity with Havana in the face of increasing U.S. pressures.

Ryabkov explained that Russia, as one of Cuba’s closest partners and allies, is committed to supporting the island nation, urging other BRICS member states, including China, to offer similar assistance to Cuba.

The Russian official noted that the United States is exerting significant pressure on Havana, potentially resorting to illegal measures against it, referencing President Donald Trump’s recent decision to declare a national security emergency and impose doubled tariffs on oil imports to Cuba.

Ryabkov emphasized that he does not foresee collective action among BRICS countries, stating that available options will depend on developments in the situation, firmly asserting that Russia will not abandon Cuba under any American pressure.
