Russia appoints representatives to monitor fishing activities in Morocco’s Atlantic waters

Russia has announced the appointment of its representatives responsible for overseeing the activities of its fleet in relation to the fishing quotas granted within Morocco’s Atlantic waters, as part of the implementation of the fisheries cooperation agreement between the two countries.

The aim of this measure is to track exploitation operations and ensure compliance with the specified quotas and permitted catch species, in addition to collecting scientific data related to fish stocks and exploitation conditions.

The appointed representatives will carry out technical and scientific monitoring aboard fishing vessels, including monitoring catch quantities and biological composition, while ensuring that activities conform to regulatory controls and established environmental standards.

This appointment comes within the framework of strengthening governance and monitoring mechanisms in the fishing sector, ensuring the sustainable exploitation of marine resources and maintaining the ecological balance of fisheries along Morocco’s Atlantic coast.

The cooperation between Rabat and Moscow in this area reflects a trend towards rational management of fishery resources, based on scientific data and field oversight, serving the interests of both parties and enhancing the sector’s sustainability in the long term.
