Morocco and the UAE Strengthen Strategic Health Cooperation to Enhance Health Sovereignty

On the sidelines of the “Health Leaders” meeting and the opening of the 51st edition of the World Health Exhibition in Dubai, Morocco’s Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mr. Ameen Al-Tahraoui, held bilateral discussions with his Emirati counterpart, Mr. Hamad bin Ali Al-Sayegh. The talks focused on ways to develop health cooperation between the two countries in line with the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aimed at enhancing national health sovereignty and advancing the pharmaceutical and biomedical industries.

The meeting was convened to evaluate ongoing projects within the Moroccan-Emirati partnership, particularly those related to upgrading health infrastructure, supporting socially impactful therapeutic programs, and promoting the digital transformation of the health system.

Both parties emphasized the necessity of accelerating the execution of projects concerning the rehabilitation of healthcare institutions and the construction of new health facilities in underserved areas, supporting spatial justice and strengthening regional health offerings.

They also confirmed the development of the pharmaceutical industry as a strategic option to ensure drug security and sustainability in medication supply, while exploring new industrial and investment partnership opportunities between stakeholders from both countries.

In the field of blood and its derivatives, they agreed to continue technical coordination to study cooperation opportunities in a practical and structured manner, enhancing national self-sufficiency and improving the quality of therapeutic services.

The two sides agreed to hold regular technical meetings to monitor the progress of existing projects and explore new areas for cooperation, reflecting a shared commitment to establishing a strategic health partnership based on efficiency, sustainability, and the exchange of expertise.

This initiative reflects the increasing dynamics of Moroccan-Emirati relations, which are based on a shared vision to enhance health development, support innovation, and solidify the foundations of national health sovereignty.
