Morocco is actively participating in the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

The Kingdom of Morocco is preparing for its official representation at the 61st session of the Human Rights Council, scheduled to be held from February 23 to March 31, 2026, with the participation of the Minister Delegate in Charge of Human Rights, Mohammed Habib Belkouch.

A statement issued by the Ministerial Delegation in Charge of Human Rights confirmed that Belkouch will deliver Morocco’s speech during the general session allocated to government delegations, focusing on reinforcing Morocco’s commitment to defending fundamental rights at both national and international levels.

Moreover, the ministerial delegate will chair a high-level meeting on February 24 regarding the international network of national mechanisms for implementation, reporting, and follow-up, which Morocco is coordinating. Organized in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the missions of Morocco, Brazil, Portugal, and Paraguay, alongside the Global Rights Group, the meeting aims to highlight the network’s achievements and adopt its action plan for the 2026-2030 period, as well as to launch its virtual platform.

This session will provide the Kingdom an opportunity to hold bilateral discussions with UN officials and international human rights figures, showcasing Morocco’s experience in promoting human rights and developing cooperation mechanisms with bodies and experts in preparation for a series of international events to be hosted by the Kingdom this year.

This participation aligns with Morocco’s active role on the international stage regarding human rights and continues its efforts to exchange experiences and practices with member states of the council.
