Marrakech Hosts Hotel Industry Forum
The third edition of the Hotel Industry Forum kicked off today, Thursday, February 5, 2026, in Marrakech. Organized by the National Federation of the Hotel Industry, the event will take place over two days under the theme “Investment and Innovation: Towards Improving Performance and Efficiency.” This platform gathers professionals, investors, and public and financial institutions to discuss the key challenges facing the hotel and tourism sector in Morocco.
The forum aims to diagnose the structural obstacles impeding the performance enhancement of hotel units and boosting their competitiveness, focusing extensively on three main strategic files: tax system reform, financing foundations, and corporate governance.
Industry professionals view the fragmented tax system as a barrier to modernizing and upgrading existing hotel infrastructure, hindering their ability to compete in both national and international markets. Participants aim to develop practical proposals for restructuring taxes in line with the specificities of hotel investment and the lengthy capital recovery periods.
Financing is at the forefront of the discussions due to the misalignment of traditional banking solutions and financing mechanisms with the requirements of capital-intensive hotel projects. This has led the federation to advocate for the development of innovative financial tools suitable for this vital sector.
The forum also sheds light on the issue of tourism governance, noting that there is a disparity between the pace of international tourism promotion and the speed of hotel supply structuring and service development on the ground. This necessitates enhanced coordination among decision-making centers to ensure the marketing image of Morocco aligns with the quality of its hotel products.
This forum, which brings together experts, investors, and a broad spectrum of stakeholders in the sector, presents an opportunity to rethink the policies and strategies supporting the modernization of the hotel industry, enhancing its contribution to the national economy by providing practical recommendations that could help overcome the current challenges.
