King Mohammed VI presides over the ceremony for the presentation and launch of a project to establish a massive aircraft landing systems factory in Nouacer.

Accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay Hassan at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, the king inaugurated a project dedicated to the production of aircraft landing systems, which is part of the Safran Group. This initiative enhances Morocco’s position as an integrated industrial player within the global aerospace value chains.

This strategic project falls within the industrial dynamics currently experienced by the Kingdom. The new site will be established within the integrated aerospace and aviation industrial platform “Medpark” in Nouacer, transforming it into one of the largest global centers belonging to the Safran Landing Systems division, specializing in the manufacturing of aircraft landing systems.

The factory, dedicated to the Airbus A320 model, aims to establish a fully integrated industrial chain that includes precision manufacturing, high-tech assembly, testing, certification, and advanced maintenance, adhering to the latest industrial standards and utilizing modern and efficient production equipment.

During the ceremony, an institutional video showcased the industrial modernization and innovation journey that Morocco has undertaken over the past two decades, consolidating its position as an international reference in the aerospace industry, supported by skilled human capital and advanced industrial and logistical infrastructure.

In a speech on this occasion, Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, affirmed that Morocco has successfully transformed into a globally recognized aviation platform within just twenty years, noting that the Safran Group, Morocco’s industrial partner for over a quarter of a century, has supported the development of the national ecosystem and contributed to enhancing its capabilities.

He elaborated that the new factory, which will be built on a site exceeding seven hectares, represents a qualitative leap towards deepening Morocco’s industrial integration into global value chains, especially in the field of precision technologies related to landing systems, emphasizing that the sector currently employs around 25,000 internationally recognized Moroccan professionals.

For his part, Safran Group Chairman Ross McInnes highlighted that the project extends the work initiated on the aircraft engine industrial complex launched last October, considering that the establishment of one of the largest landing systems equipment factories in the world in Morocco reflects confidence in the national industrial environment.

He noted that this investment, valued at over 280 million euros, will support the rising production of A320 aircraft and prepare for the next generation of short and medium-haul aircraft, contributing to the establishment of a flexible and resilient industrial model due to its proximity to Safran assembly sites and Airbus’s European assembly lines.

McInnes added that once operational, the factory will provide around 500 direct jobs and will rely 100% on carbon-free energy, in addition to its role in attracting new suppliers and reinforcing the national industrial fabric.

At the end of the ceremony, His Majesty the King presided over the signing of a protocol agreement to establish the factory, signed by the Minister of Industry and Trade, the Minister Delegate for Investment, Convergence, and Public Policy Evaluation Karim Zidane, and the Chairman of the Safran Group.

This massive industrial project affirms Morocco’s position as a strategic partner of the Safran Group and embodies the qualitative transformation of the national aerospace industry, aiming to establish the Kingdom as a competitive industrial hub on a global scale.
