Exclusive to Expresstv – The Royal Moroccan Football Federation is set to appoint Tarik Skitioui as the head coach of the national team, replacing Walid Regragui, with an official decision expected during the board meeting scheduled for tomorrow.

According to exclusive information obtained by Expresstv, there are strong indications that tomorrow’s meeting will announce the termination of Regragui’s contract as part of a new direction aimed at restructuring the technical staff of the national team in preparation for upcoming challenges.

Our sources confirm that Mohammed Wahbi has emerged as the leading candidate to take charge of the Atlas Lions; however, Tarik Skitioui and Hossam Ammouta are also included on the shortlist of potential replacements.

Expresstv has revealed that negotiations with Spanish coach Xavi Hernandez had already commenced in recent times. However, these talks stalled due to the coach’s request for more time to prepare, as he declined to lead the team just weeks before the World Cup. This made the prospect of hiring him more complicated.

This move comes during a critical phase for the national team, as the federation aims to make a prompt decision that ensures technical stability and readjusts the rhythm before major contests.

All eyes are now on tomorrow’s meeting, which is expected to mark a turning point in this matter, either through the announcement of Regragui’s departure or the reveal of the name that will lead the team in the forthcoming period.
