Express TV – The Moroccan Football Federation is moving towards appointing Tarik Skikiyou as the head coach of the national team, succeeding Walid Rekrakhi, with an official decision expected during the board meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
According to exclusive information obtained by “Express TV,” a significant amount of indications suggest that tomorrow’s meeting will announce the separation from Rekrakhi, as part of a new direction to reorganize the technical team’s structure in preparation for upcoming challenges.
Our sources confirm that Skikiyou is at the top of the list of candidates to lead the “Atlas Lions,” given his experience in national football, a deep understanding of both local and international football scenes, and his readiness to take on the role in a short timeframe.
In this context, the name of Hussein Ammouta has also been included in the list of potential replacements. However, current information clearly points out that Skikiyou remains the closest option to resolve the matter unless unexpected developments occur at the last moment.
“Express TV” sources also revealed that the federation has already entered direct negotiations with Spanish coach Xavi Hernández in the past period. However, these discussions were not completed because the Spanish coach expressed a desire for more time to prepare and refused to lead the national team just weeks before the World Cup, causing the option of hiring him to falter.
This move comes during a critical phase for the national team, as the federation aims to make a swift decision that ensures technical stability and readjusts the rhythm before major competitions.
All eyes are on tomorrow’s meeting, which is expected to mark an official turning point in this matter, whether through the announcement of the separation from Rekrakhi or by revealing the name of the coach who will lead the team in the upcoming phase.
