Abdeslam Kayouh, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, participated yesterday, Thursday, in the second conference of Transport Ministers from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Istanbul. The event served as a platform for exchanging views on enhancing connectivity among member countries, developing multimodal corridors, and supporting sector digitization and capacity building.
During his address, the minister outlined the dynamic developments in Morocco’s transport and logistics sector, positioned within a strategic vision aimed at enhancing regional and international connectivity through significant infrastructure projects. These include the Nador West Mediterranean Port, the Dakhla Atlantic Port, and the extension of the high-speed train network, as well as a program to double the capacity of Moroccan airports from 40 to 80 million passengers.
Kayouh noted that these projects are part of Morocco’s preparations to host the 2030 World Cup, further solidifying the country’s position as a regional and continental logistics hub.
He also emphasized the importance of the Atlantic royal initiative as a strategic framework to bolster logistical connectivity with Sahel countries within a context of solidarity based on mutual benefit and economic integration.
In closing, the minister affirmed Morocco’s readiness to share its experience with member states and enhance practical cooperation in transport and logistics, which serves sustainable development goals and strengthens economic ties within the Islamic space.
