The Board of Directors of the Moroccan Professional Federation of Sugar, “FIMASUCRE,” met on Monday the 19th, chaired by Hassan Mounir. During the meeting, members were briefed on the progress of the current sugar season, which has seen significant rainfall in several agricultural basins, contributing to improved water conditions across the kingdom and creating a favorable environment for the agricultural season. This has bolstered positive prospects for the future development of areas dedicated to sugar crops.
During the meeting, Hassan Mounir announced his decision to step down from the presidency of the federation, a choice that was met with great appreciation from the council members, who commended Mounir’s commitment and substantial contributions to the development of the sugar sector in Morocco.
Mounir held several senior positions, including Executive Director of Sugar Factories and General Director of the Cosumar Group. He led significant strategic transformations in the sector, including the integration of modern technologies and digitization of the sugar chain, as well as the restructuring of industrial tools. These efforts have improved agricultural performance, increased farmers’ incomes, and strengthened the resilience of the national sugar chain.
Additionally, during the same meeting, the board elected Imad Ghamad as the new president of the Moroccan Professional Federation of Sugar. Ghamad currently serves as the General Director of the Cosumar Group and has extensive experience in the sugar sector, with notable contributions to the structuring and development of the agricultural sector, including improvements in productivity, technical pathway equipment, and enhancing support systems for farmers. He is also focused on integrating innovative solutions and tools for managing and monitoring agricultural activities to ensure resource sustainability and increase the competitiveness of sugar crops.
Through this election, the board confirms its ongoing commitment to developing an effective, competitive, and sustainable sugar chain that serves the interests of farmers and supports national food sovereignty.
