Nestlé Recalls Baby Milk from European Markets Due to Quality Issue

Nestlé, the Swiss food company, announced on Monday the recall of batches of baby milk in several European countries, particularly Germany, Austria, Denmark, Italy, and Sweden, as a precautionary measure.

In a statement on its website, the company revealed that it discovered a “quality issue” with an ingredient sourced from one of its major suppliers. Nestlé conducted tests on all arachidonic acid oils and corresponding oil blends used in the production of potentially affected infant nutrition products, noting that “no cases of illness related to the recalled products have been confirmed so far.”

Nestlé added that it is in contact with relevant authorities in the affected countries “to ensure that necessary actions are taken,” assuring parents and caregivers that it is implementing appropriate measures, including product withdrawal when needed.

Meanwhile, Nestlé France announced a “preventive and voluntary” recall of certain batches of the “Gigos” and “Nidal” baby milk brands after new investigations suggested the potential presence of ceramides, a toxic substance that can cause gastrointestinal issues.

The company published images on its websites for the affected countries displaying the product batch numbers being recalled, which are sold under different names.
