The Tlemoust case reignites: Widely requested hearings and a new delay in reviewing the case
The Court of Appeals in Kenitra held a new session today in the case of Mohamed Tlemoust and others, marked by the defense presenting a series of requests aimed at expanding the scope of hearings and clarifying the details of the case. The defense requested the summons of the whistleblower and president of the Kenitra Municipal Council, Amina Harouzi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rashid Talbi Alami, the president of the regional council, Jawad Gharib, and the parliamentary representative, Hatim Barqiya, following their names appearing in police reports. The requests also included hearing several officers from the National Judicial Police about the procedures followed during the preliminary investigation.
During the session, several lawyers expressed their discontent with the continued detention of the accused, reminding that their clients have spent over 13 months in provisional detention without delving into the substance of the case. The defense reiterated the presence of all necessary guarantees for attendance, renewing their request for the accused to be granted provisional release.
On its part, the public prosecutor opposed the release request, while the judicial panel decided to include the various requests for deliberation before making a decision, postponing the discussion of the case to December 18, based on a request from the civil party that sought additional time to prepare its case.
