The Moroccan national team maintains its global ranking

The Moroccan national team has retained its 11th position in the FIFA World Ranking for December 2025, despite winning the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025™. This was due to insufficient points to break into the top ten.

The December ranking saw the completion of 42 international matches, including intense confrontations in the Arab Cup hosted in Qatar, where the Moroccan team secured the title after defeating the Jordanian team in the final held in Lusail. Despite this significant achievement, the “Lions of the Atlas” remain in 11th place, just 0.54 points behind Croatian team, which holds the 10th position.

Spain continues to lead the global ranking, followed by Argentina in second place, with France maintaining its third position. The top ten is rounded out by England (4th), Brazil (5th), Portugal (6th), the Netherlands (7th), Belgium (8th), Germany (9th), and Croatia (10th).

Within the ranking, no changes occurred in the top 33 positions, while only three teams managed to improve their standings by more than one place: Jordan (64th globally, +2) after reaching the Arab Cup final, as well as Vietnam (107th, +3) and Singapore (148th, +3).

Kosovo achieved one of the year’s most notable surprises, accumulating 89.02 points—the highest point total recorded by any team this year—thanks to seven wins and two draws in ten matches, which allowed it to make the largest leap in the ranking, climbing 19 places over the past twelve months.

The year also witnessed the rise of other teams, including Norway (29th globally, 68.70 points) and Suriname (123rd globally, climbing 15 places compared to December 2024), while twelve other teams improved their rankings between 10 and 14 places.

In terms of continental distribution within the top fifty, the scene remained stable compared to the end of 2024, with the list comprising 26 European teams, seven from South America, seven from Africa, five from the North, Central America, and the Caribbean, five from Asia, and one from Oceania.

This ranking confirms the Moroccan team’s position among the elite of world football, anticipating upcoming qualifications that may enable it to break into the top ten, given its stable technical performance and continuous positive results at both continental and international levels.
