The High Commission for Planning reported that the industrial production index, excluding oil refining, increased by 2.2% during the third quarter of 2025, compared to the same period last year.
In a briefing note on the industrial and energy production index, the commission explained that this development is mainly attributed to a rise in production across several sectors, particularly in “food industries,” which grew by 11.3%, “other non-metallic mineral products” up by 12.2%, “chemical manufacturing” by 4.3%, “automotive manufacturing” by 7.4%, and “rubber and plastic products” by 16.2%, in addition to “other transport manufacturing,” which increased by 19.9%.
Conversely, the index for “tobacco products manufacturing” saw a decline of 28.4%, while “pharmaceutical manufacturing” and “metal products manufacturing excluding machinery and equipment” and “mining” decreased by 17.3%, 6.6%, and 8%, respectively.
On another note, the index for extractive industries rose by 7.4%, resulting from an increase in “other extractive industries” by 7.5% and the index for “ferrous metals” by 3.2%.
Additionally, the electricity production index recorded a rise of 6.4%.
