General Directorate of National Security: Strong Communicative and Community Impact and a Future Vision to Enhance Security and Serve Citizens

To enhance interaction with citizens and swiftly combat misinformation, the National Security services have continued to promote immediate reporting of misleading content through the “Reporting” platform and its official social media accounts. This approach has not merely been a technical procedure, but has effectively contributed to building trust in the security institution, thanks to rapid responses to citizen reports and a proactive communication strategy to confront rumors and anything that may affect the general sense of security.

Regarding violent content circulated on digital platforms, which can negatively impact feelings of safety, the information vigilance services identified 260 pieces of content this year documenting criminal acts or containing scenes of violence. These were addressed through necessary technical assessments, appropriate security interventions, and judicial investigations of those involved, followed by press releases aimed at informing the public and enhancing community reassurance.

In terms of strengthening its digital presence, the National Security services published 503 communicative pieces on their official accounts across various social media platforms this year. The total number of followers reached 1,268,153, distributed among 512,523 on “X,” 502,280 on “Facebook,” and 253,350 on “Instagram,” reflecting an expanding circle of interaction and trust.

On the community awareness front, the National Security services resumed implementing their plan focused on schools, aimed at shielding students from the risks of delinquency and misuse of information systems. This year was marked by the development of educational materials directed toward this demographic, benefiting 109,934 students in the first half of the current academic year across 1,961 educational institutions.

Moreover, the security services held regional and local coordination and consultative meetings with 317 associations and NGOs, discussing local residents’ expectations, proximity issues, and interaction with the security institution.

In this context, the National Security participated in over 22 school and vocational guidance forums in several cities, aiming to introduce police professions and the conditions for entering National Security competitions, thus bringing the image of the security institution closer to its community and broadening awareness of its tasks.

Throughout 2025, the National Security services welcomed 97 minors interested in police professions, offering them field visits to police facilities and providing them with complete uniforms from the security agency. Additionally, during cultural and sports events such as the thirtieth International Book and Publishing Fair and the sixteenth Horse Exhibition in El Jadida, there was notable attendance from children and youth, reflecting an increasing interest in the security institution as a community-serving entity.

Future Projects: Consolidating Gains and Enhancing Readiness

In 2026, the General Directorate of National Security aims to continue leveraging the gains made in modernizing infrastructure and policing services, launching new programs and projects that meet citizens’ aspirations. It places special emphasis on strengthening international security cooperation by exchanging expertise in counter-terrorism and organized crime with partner countries and international organizations, while opening up to new partners in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, serving the higher interests of the Kingdom.

Among the structured projects that have reached their final stages is the inauguration of the regional security headquarters in Al Hoceima, the construction of a summer center in Murtal, and the renovation of the police station in Errachidia, alongside the establishment of a new headquarters for the central forensic police department, police stations in Ain Oulad Ali and Deroua, and 12 police precincts in several cities, as well as two tourist police units in Nador and Errachidia, and the establishment of three traffic accident investigation units in Agadir, Mediouna, and Tamsna.

In the digital domain, the technical teams plan to finalize major IT projects, expand the digitization of security procedures, and enhance connectivity and data exchange between various IT systems within an integrated program aligned with international technological standards, while strictly adhering to legislations related to personal data protection and digital identity.

Concerning communication, the General Directorate of National Security is preparing to organize the seventh edition of the Open Days in Rabat, coinciding with the seventieth anniversary of the National Security establishment, emphasizing a policy of openness and communication with citizens across various regions of the Kingdom.

In terms of sports security, the experience of securing the Africa Cup of Nations “Morocco 2025” will be evaluated, and successful practices will be consolidated to prepare a comprehensive safety and security protocol for major international events, in preparation for organizing the World Cup 2030 in partnership with Spain and Portugal.

Regarding police training, the National Security services plan to organize specialized training courses in 2026 at the Higher Institute of Security Sciences in Ifrane and police training centers, covering modern areas including the use of artificial intelligence in security work, combating cybercrime, and partnerships with new academic institutions nationally and internationally, similar to the agreement signed with Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in December 2025.

Through this report, the General Directorate of National Security reaffirms its unwavering commitment to continue efforts aimed at establishing public security, enhancing the sense of safety, and improving the quality of services provided to citizens, residents, and visitors, while continually striving to elevate the professional and social conditions of the officers and men of National Security.
