Angola’s national team coach praises Morocco’s organization of the Africa Cup of Nations: “I feel like I am in my own country, always Morocco.”
Patrice Beaumelle, the coach of the Angolan national team, commended what he described as the “ideal” organization of the Africa Cup of Nations, emphasizing that Morocco presents a proud image of the African continent and provides all the conditions for the success of this continental event.
Following Angola’s defeat to South Africa, with a score of 2-1 in the opening match, Beaumelle expressed his comfort whenever he is in Morocco, stating: “I spent more than four years of my life here with the Moroccan national team as an assistant coach, participating in two editions of the Africa Cup and one edition of the World Cup.”
The French coach noted that watching the opening match was an emotional moment for him, as it brought back memories of his work within the Moroccan football system, saying: “I watched the opening stadium and felt chills because I remembered we were part of these projects. The organization is perfect and reflects the best image of Africa.”
Beaumelle concluded his remarks by emphasizing his emotional connection to Morocco, saying: “I feel like I am in my country, and I truly want to say ‘always Morocco’, as what Morocco is offering today is something to be proud of.”
It is worth noting that Patrice Beaumelle worked for years alongside Hervé Renard within the technical staff of the Moroccan national team, before briefly taking charge of the Olympic team and embarking on other experiences, until he was appointed as the coach of Angola in September.
