Snow Covers 41,000 km² in Morocco
Official data has confirmed that the total area covered by snow in Morocco reached 41,446 square kilometers as of December 23rd.
The General Directorate of Meteorology, under the Ministry of Equipment and Water, indicated that these figures come as a result of snowfall that transformed the mountain peaks into pristine white landscapes.
The agency noted a significant presence of snow in the High and Middle Atlas mountain ranges, extending from Ifrane and Béni Mellal to the south of Marrakech, reaching the highlands near Errachidia.
It also highlighted that “these snowfalls are good news for enhancing water resources and filling reservoirs, and they provide a positive boost for the mountain tourism sector as the year comes to a close.”
It is worth noting that the kingdom has been experiencing a weather front that led to record rainfall and snowfall, coinciding with the onset of winter.
