Russia and Africa Strengthen Trade Partnership
The volume of trade between Russia and Africa has shown positive dynamics, despite unilateral restrictions. It is essential to facilitate the operations of Russian and African companies, according to a joint statement issued after the second ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
The statement noted: “We acknowledge the positive dynamics of trade between the Russian Federation and African countries, despite the imposed unilateral restrictions. Given the economic and trade opportunities for cooperation between Russia and Africa, we reaffirm our joint commitment to significantly expand and diversify this cooperation.”
It also emphasized the need to create a conducive environment for Russian and African companies.
The statement highlighted the necessity of developing mechanisms to facilitate the participation of Russian and African companies in a sustainable partnership that fosters inclusive growth and creates job opportunities.
The second ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum will take place in Cairo on December 19 and 20, featuring the foreign ministers of Russia and Egypt, along with their African counterparts and representatives from regional African organizations.
This session is particularly significant as it marks the first time the “Russia-Africa Partnership Forum Ministerial Conference” is held on the African continent, following the agreements reached at last year’s Sochi conference, where partners welcomed Cairo as the host city for the 2025 edition.
It is worth noting that this forum, established in 2019, has laid strong foundations for cooperation between Russia and African countries through two historic summits: the first in Sochi (2019) and the second in St. Petersburg (2023), alongside regular specialized meetings across various sectors.
The Russia-Africa Partnership Forum aims to diversify the forms and areas of Russian-African cooperation and to outline the long-term development of these relations.
