Fatima Zahra Amour, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, announced that Morocco has achieved an unprecedented tourism milestone, welcoming 18 million tourists by the end of November 2025. She emphasized that this figure is expected to rise further, particularly with the country hosting the Africa Cup of Nations “Morocco 2025,” which will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Amour made these statements on Saturday in Tangier during the concluding event of the “Path of Achievements” tour organized by the National Rally of Independents party in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region. She highlighted that Morocco has seen an increase of nearly 5 million tourists compared to 2019, which is considered a reference year for the sector.
The minister explained that the positive dynamics in the tourism sector are supported by recent data from the High Commission for Planning, which revealed that the sector’s GDP rose by 38% compared to 2019, along with a significant contribution of tourism to the national GDP, amounting to around 7.3%.
Amour stressed that these indicators are “not just dry numbers” but reflect direct and tangible impacts on citizens’ lives. She emphasized that the increase in tourist numbers positively affects various economic activities linked to the sector and contributes to the creation of thousands of jobs and the enhancement of development dynamics in many regions.
