Nador: Police Officer Stops Reckless Driver After Chase and Use of Service Weapon
On the evening of Wednesday, December 10, a decisive police intervention occurred in the city of Nador, resulting in the arrest of a 41-year-old man known for his criminal history related to drug offenses. He was apprehended after engaging in reckless driving, endangering pedestrians and other road users, and resisting arrest while attempting to assault a traffic officer.
According to available information, the incident began when the suspect drove his vehicle recklessly down a public street, ultimately leading to a minor traffic accident. This situation necessitated the intervention of a traffic officer who attempted to apprehend him; however, the driver chose to flee and attempted to ram the officer directly.
Faced with this aggressive behavior, the officer was compelled to use his service weapon, firing a shot that struck one of the vehicle’s tires, thus neutralizing the threat and restricting the suspect’s movement. A few hours after the incident, police teams were able to locate and apprehend him.
The individual is now under judicial investigation, supervised by the relevant public prosecutor’s office, as they await a full understanding of the circumstances surrounding the incident and the motivations behind his actions, which jeopardized public safety.
