Morocco Advances to Arab Cup Semifinals After Hard-Fought Victory Over Syria
The Moroccan national team has qualified for the semifinals of the Arab Cup after defeating their Syrian counterparts by a narrow 1-0 margin, with the goal scored by Walid Azaro. The match showcased Morocco’s near-complete dominance over the game’s proceedings.
The game kicked off at a fast pace with intense duels, and the first half saw a significant injury incident when player Tarek Tissoudali collided with Syrian goalkeeper Elias Haddaya inside the penalty area, forcing him to leave the field and be substituted by Walid Azaro. Despite this change, Morocco maintained its dominance, creating multiple scoring opportunities, but the net remained untouched until the end of the first half.
The second half featured a critical moment when Moroccan player Mofid was sent off after committing a foul against a Syrian striker, leaving the Moroccan team to play with only ten men. Nevertheless, the national team continued to apply pressure, and Walid Azaro succeeded in scoring the winning goal that secured Morocco’s ticket to the semifinals.
The Moroccan team was distinguished by its high organization in building attacks, benefiting from the movements of their wingers and long-range shots, while the Syrian squad relied on a solid defense and quick counterattacks. However, their attempts posed no real threat to goalkeeper Yassine Bounou’s net.
With this victory, Morocco sets up a semifinal clash against the winner of another match, amid great hopes from Moroccan fans for their team to continue its path toward the title, having delivered a strong performance and tactical discipline despite challenges and absences during the game.
