Casablanca: 14 Arrested in Connection with Sports-Related Riots and Vandalism in Moulay Rachid

Police in the Moulay Rachid district of Casablanca managed to arrest 14 individuals on Saturday evening, December 13, suspected of involvement in acts of violence linked to sports-related riots that resulted in significant damage to public property and endangered citizens’ safety.

According to security sources, the police were alerted about a group of people, believed to belong to two factions of fans from a local football club, engaging in violent confrontations in public using knives, which led to one citizen being injured and requiring immediate medical attention.

Police patrols intervened to contain the situation and restore public order; however, the suspects responded with violent resistance, throwing stones, which caused damage to four vehicles belonging to the national police.

Research and investigations conducted shortly after the incidents led to the arrest of 14 individuals suspected of directly participating in these criminal acts. Searches also resulted in the seizure of four knives and a tear gas canister believed to have been used during the violence.

The arrested individuals are now subjected to judicial investigations under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine all circumstances and motives of the case, while efforts continue to apprehend other presumed accomplices.
