The Agadir Municipal Council approved the establishment of the regional sports company – AGADIREGIONSPORT, during its extraordinary session held yesterday, Thursday, which was dedicated to discussing and approving several points on the agenda.

The approval of the sports company coincides with preparations for upcoming major sporting events, particularly those related to hosting the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup.

A statement from the Agadir municipality clarified that the company is a product of a partnership between the Souss-Massa region, the state, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, the regional academy for education and training, and the Agadir municipality.

This company will be tasked with managing, operating, and enhancing regional sports facilities, ensuring modern governance and professional management of stadiums, and optimal preparations for the upcoming sports events, especially the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup.

During the extraordinary session, the council also approved a review of the tax regulations to align them with the national developments governed by Law 14-25 regarding the taxation of local authorities.

According to the statement, this update included several axes, the most notable being the regulation of towing fees, improving temporary occupation fees of public property, updating some outdated fees, and aligning the adopted procedures.

The decision established a pricing system linked to the level of urban amenities, allowing for a more precise classification of neighborhoods and updating the fee imposed on undeveloped land, in a bid to enhance the principles of tax equity and increase the revenues of the municipality.

The council also approved three sets of specifications concerning the transport of patients and injured individuals, the transportation of deceased Muslims, and the transport of non-Muslim deceased.

These specifications set clear technical and organizational standards aimed at improving service quality, ensuring safety, and maintaining continuity of this vital service.

The council members also approved the update of the specifications governing the operation of the Royal Tennis Club for the municipal corporation, aiming to settle a situation that had lasted nearly twenty years and no longer met standards of transparency and good governance.

This update provides a clear contractual framework between the municipality and the club, ensuring suitable conditions for the development of sporting activities, talent nurturing, and upgrading community sports facilities. Consequently, the usage fee was adjusted.

The Agadir Municipal Council has made a municipal property available to the General Directorate of National Security in the Tiqwin area, as part of efforts to support and enhance police services close to citizens, especially given the urban and demographic expansion in the area. The council approved the bylaws for a local development company dedicated to managing the school transport facility in the rural region under the Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane prefecture.

This company will be responsible for ensuring coordinated and effective management of this vital facility in accordance with applicable legal provisions and in partnership with relevant local stakeholders.

As part of improving the efficiency of administrative services, the council approved a partnership agreement concerning printing, packaging, distribution, and tracking notifications directed at tax payers. This agreement will enable enhanced digitization within the municipality, increasing the speed and accuracy of processing correspondence while relieving pressure on financial and municipal registry services.

According to the statement, these approvals reflect the municipality’s commitment to continuing the modernization process, enhancing the efficiency of public facilities, and improving the quality of services provided to citizens, in addition to keeping pace with the urban and sports dynamics the city is experiencing in anticipation of upcoming events.
